Hiya. We breed Siamese and we have long since given up on expensive shop brought toys. We make play dens out of cardboard boxes, tape them together, cut holes for the babes to run in and out of. The great thing with boxes is they can be thrown away if, and usually, when little accident happen!
Also a good trick is an old t-shirt cut into strips, sprinckle some cat nip onto it and tie into a knot - you will then start finding these all over your house! Scrunched up foil is also a good one, provides hours of fun as it slides easily accross the floor when batted by eager paws.
We also have some pegs attached to some sturdy string and hung on the home made play centre, along with some of those woolen balls that you make.

Ratty especially loves the t-shirt knots to run around with!

A good variety of toys is great... stuff they can chew, kick, bat, stuff that makes noise, stuff that rolls, stuff that flutters like cat dancers or feathers... keep 'em on their little toes.

I gotta be careful though, because it seems Maya has taken to thinking my fishtanks are big toys...as well as my typing fingers! laugh out loud

Yes, they will make toys out of anything and everything. And Coop's in that "If it's on the floor, it goes in my mouth..." stage.

My friends think I'm nuts because it seems like every two seconds, I'm down on the floor with him, prying open those cute little lips and saying, "What's in your mouth? Drop it!" as I shove my finger in!
