Kitty biting

My 2 month old kitty is biting me and my husband and my kids. I know she's young but is there anyway I can make her stop biting us?

Thanks

QUINCY

Your kitten is young and playful and thinks your family are "kittens" to play rough with. First rule is that no one plays with kitty with their hands. No wrestling, no poking the belly, no making your fingers into a spider for her to chase. With biting foster kittens I have tried pulling them off me by the scruff of their neck, firmly saying no, tapping their noses with my finger (not too hard), and blowing on their little faces (they hate that). A kitten who is determined to bite is not usually disuaded by any of the above. The best thing is to stop all movement, play, etc., and either ignore kitty or actually walk away. You can also put her in a short time out in a carrier or the bathroom. Another thing that works sometimes is distracting her with toys - ones on a string you wave around or you can actually place a little toy mouse in her mouth while her mouth is open and in the process of biting you.
The absolute BEST thing you can do is to get her a kitten playmate if you can.

Ayla

Quincy is right. Ayla loves to bite us also. It's hard because she just wants to play. We are actually getting her a kitten friend in a week, that is a good suggestion if it is possible. Also I've heard of people keeping a little squirt gone close by and giving the kitty a little squirt while saying "No Bite"

Izadore (Izzie)

Remember that you are the cat mama now and you need to step up and let Miss Samantha know that. Quincy is right when he says that she sees you all as litter mates. Our friend Gracie's mom gives the advice of perfecting your "hissing" skills and hissing like a mama cat would when one of her litter misbehaves. The first time I did it to Izzie, he ran under the bed, then came out and apologized ten minutes later for what he'd done! ;-) Whatever you do, don't lift Sam off the ground if you "scruff" her. This can be bad for her muscles, spine, tendons, etc.
